If dog is man’s best friend, than the University of the Ozarks’ Humane Society Club may just be dog’s favorite organization. One of the more than 45 student clubs on campus, the Humane Society Club is made up of students, faculty and staff who have a love for our four-legged friends. The club was even named the Philanthropic Organization of the Year for 2016-17 by the student body. Club members volunteer throughout the year at the Clarksville Needy Paws animal shelter, where they help bathe and exercise the animals as well as clean and organize the shelter. They also volunteer at local adoption events for the animals. Among the most popular on-campus events the club sponsors are stress-relieving opportunities for students to interact with dogs on the campus mall during final exam days. There’s nothing like a friendly, furry, four-legged friend to take your mind off that advanced calculus exam.
